To answer this question correctly, students must explain how this propaganda poster is connected to the both the Chinese Revolution and the Great Leap Forward.  To answer Question 1, students must identify this poster as Maoist.  Students must then connect Maoism to the Chinese Revolution (1949), in which the Chinese Communist Party, led by Mao Zedong, established the People’s Republic of China.  To answer Question 2, students must explain that the failed policies of Mao’s Great Leap Forward diminished some of the chairman’s power and reputation and that Mao launched the Cultural Revolution in an effort to eliminate critics and regain support.
